How to Create an Awesome Slide Presentation (for Keynote or Powerpoint)
|
In this episode of SPI TV, I’m going to show you how to create an awesome slide deck for your next presentation, one that captivates your audience and supports your talk, not bores people to death and puts people to sleep.
I’ve performed dozens of presentations myself, and I take great pride in how I approach my slide deck. I’m always getting complimented on my slides, and I want the same to happen to you.
Creating great slides doesn’t have to be difficult, and with a few simple rules and some guidelines to follow, you’ll stand out as a top presenter the next time you’re on stage or presenting in front of a group.

I wish I had seen this before wasting the first 4 minutes of my life.
Ironic that he talks about the drawbacks of boring presentations during that time!
@Edwin Fernandez What did you have planned for the first 4 minutes of your life?
Thank you
Hey everyone, if you’d like to skip the intro (which I would not recommend) and just get right into the tips, skip to about 2:20 in the timeline.

hey Pat, really love the template you used here(with the number of slides on top) did you do this with Microsoft?
Hey Pat, do you have or know where I can find a template for the Roadmap?
It took you a whole 4 minutes to get in to the tipes
1 correct slide size
2 avoid bullet points
3 Topic + at least 1 support image
4 Choose a style that you like
5 Keep the text on the top
6 Show a “road map” (how far you’ve gone into the presentation)
7 Use graphs and tables
8 Higlight the most important portions of your slides
9 Go dark during story time (take people’s attention)
I’m 2 mins in, and I want the guillotine!
How to create an awesome side deck
– Sidedecking is an art form. You should side counters to various meta and niche decks, but don’t side too specific counter cards.
Hey great stuff! Appreciate this can i ask 2 questions? 1. what do you think about using creative short video clips and if you think good where would you get them or have them created? 2. Where do you get great photos that make your point is there a resource library? Thanks
I can do all these except being a good story teller ??
This was super handy, thanks so much! Very clear, easy to understand, and completely achievable.
Great video! Super tips! This is exactly what I needed.
Start each slide with the topic itself don’t talk about irrelevant other slides from the far distant past.
