You can check your comments in the comment section of your dashboard and see different actions.
You can approve a comment to have it shown on your site or you can mark a comment as spam or trash it to remove it.
To know if a comment is spam look at the links, keyword, a fake name, and really generic comments.
Activating Akismet can take care of a large amount of spam for you.
Going to the post you can scroll down to view comments on the post and moderate them as you like.
On each post you can disable the comments or disable comments on all future posts under Settings, Discussion.
Under Settings, Discussion you can also set up how you want your comments section to work.
You can require commenters to register, close comments on posts older than two weeks, and allow users to reply to other’s comments.
Comment email settings are under here as well as settings for gravatars.
