For this tutorial we will be using the Easy Updates Manager plugin which you can download below:
With the plugin installed and activated you should be able to go under Dashboard, Updates Options to start specifying what you allow to be automatically updated or not on your site. For WordPress itself, we recommend allowing minor version updates to prevent security issues that those patches resolve.
The plugin keeps a log of what is updated on the site and gives you the option to rollback to a previous update should any update on your site cause an issue. There are further options available in the pro version of the plugin.
Should you not want to use a plugin you can add a code snippet to your site, you can find the snippet in our article below:
You would add the code for the WordPress core updates to your wp-config.php file and the other two updates would be added in your theme's functions.php file. The danger with this method would be that any theme updates or changes in theme would require you to add the code again.

Hi Christina,
I have two questions:
1. Did I miss why would someone want to disable their automatic updates?
2. Does Monster Insights conflict with Google Site Kit?
Great video. I learn a lot from you guys. If I become rich I will support all the wordpress.org developer team
